Berkeley Bowl, Berkeley, California, today. Desperately rude people ramming into one another with shopping carts in the aisles, unthinkingly and agitatedly bumping people in wheelchairs (more than once?!) The parking lot had an altercation--someone upset that they can't get their organic raddicio home in time for the making of NYE vegan party dip? Yeah, the outside full of desperate SUV holiday grocery zealots, the inside? The same. In any case, I came away with such a bad taste in my mouth for people who are so desperately isolated from each other that they go shopping to feel connected by ramming each other with shopping carts.
Well, looks like everyone is following orders by shopping to save the regime here in a America:

Mon, December 31, 2007 - 8:53 PMIt's the end of the Holiday season, of course people are reduced to ramming each other with shopping carts! The Holidays bring out the worst in people. Every one just needs to take a chill pill. -

Wed, January 2, 2008 - 12:26 AMYeah, but they'd probably have to be free-trade organic chill pills to reach the right people! Bah! I'm shopping at Safeway from now on...they may not have a great selection but at least it isn't a place full of people desperate to purchase only the best produce over the wounded bodies of their neighbors.

Re: Imperial Buddhist Shopping Cart Bingo Jackpot
Wed, January 2, 2008 - 12:29 AMHL, I don't go there ever and much prefer shopping at Monterey Market. Much more pleasant and no push and shove shopping cart derbies have ever forced me to intervene to protect innocent bystanders in wheelchairs...yet. -

Re: Imperial Buddhist Shopping Cart Bingo Jackpot
Wed, January 2, 2008 - 8:29 AMI vastly prefer Monterey Market. although having to go across the street to the cheese shop & meat shop respectively is a bit annoying.
Monterey Market can be a zoo, as well, and they also have the dreaded plague of "people who put their stuff onto the checkout conveyor belt and run off to get one more item" as well as the people who leave their carts in line and then continue shopping. :: shakes fist :: -
